Being a farm girl from Iowa, performing in Chicago’s Palace Theatre has been a dream come true… especially since I’ve had friends and family cheering in nearly every audience!
Although I have visited the Windy City for various audition trips, I never had the chance to enjoy the sights outside the theatre district until this week… and I didn’t waste any time. Once my train arrived at Union Station, I unpacked my bags and boarded a double-decker bus with my Mom and Aunt Martha, where we enjoyed an informative tour of the Magnificent Mile. For the first three days (between my performance schedule), we hopped-on-and-off for lunch at the Italian Village, a walking tour of Millennium Park and grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s. We even stopped to smell the roses at Macy’s Spring Flower Show along the way and “Howl At the Moon” in celebration of our 167th performance! Some of my other favorite outings have included swing dancing with “The Flat Cats” at the historic Drake Hotel, deep dish pizza at Lou Malnat’s Pizzeria, laughs at “Second City” and spectacular Chicago views from The Signature Room at the top of the John Hancock Building.
It seems like this city is endless with adventure and I’m sad my time here is running out. “Catch Me If You Can” will only be in town through April 14… and I still hope to experience the Chicago Art Institute, see Norbert Leo Butz in “Big Fish” and do my laundry before we “jet set” to East Lansing next week!
