A Mystical Journey: Sufi Music and Other Expressions of Devotion from the Muslim World highlights the rich diversity of devotional expressions in Islam through performances of music, poetry, singing and dance. Over 60 artists and musicians from Algeria, Bosnia, India, Iran, Pakistan, Syria, Tajikistan and the United States will take the audience on a journey of the mind, body and soul.

A Mystical Journey will present various styles of musical expressions including qawwalis, ilahis, kalams, ginans, qasidahs, rock songs and dance performances of whirling Sufis. Though different in form, these acts of devotion are common in their peaceful search for the divine and represent the pluralism and unity which exists among Muslims. Music and musicians play a vital role throughout the Muslim world. From Indonesia to Morocco, Europe to the Americas music serves not only as entertainment for Muslims, but also as a way to express devotion and reinforce a sense of community.
